What are Glycolytic fibers and what are oxidative fibers?

  • Glycolytic fibers have high cytosolic concentrations of gycogenic enzymes, so they can generate ATP rapidly via glycolysis but have a low capacity for generating ATP via oxidative phosphorylation because they have few microchondria. Oxidative fibers work the other wat around and have an oxygen-binding protein, myoglobin that buffers oxygen.
