common virus, infects a large percentage of the population, 50-80%, antibodies IgG will circulate after primary infection

In de algemene populatie zorgt CMV nauwelijks voor symptomen, maar virus kan levensbedreigend zijn voor immunocompromised patients. 

Primary infection in infancy: no morbidity. Latency. 
Hoge mortaliteit en morbiditeit. 

Conventioal alloSCT: 40-60%, T cells not removed from the stem cell graft
T cell depleted alloSCT: 95%, no T cells in the graft, 95% will develop reactivation
