Several key features of analysis can be identified:

One key step is within-case analysis. The importance of within-case analysis is driven by one of the realities of case study research: a staggering volume of data. Within-case analysis typically involves detailed case study write-ups for each site. These write-ups are often simply pure descripitions, but they are central to the generation of insights, because they help researchers to cope early in the analysis proces with the often enourmous volume of data. The overall idea is to become intimately familiar with each case as a stand-alone entitiy. This process allows the unique patterns of each case to emerge before investigators push to generalize patterns across cases. It gives investigators a rich familiarity with each case which, in turn, accelerates cross-case comparison.
