Knowledge is not power, but resides in the magnetic field of power. Ignorance and opacity collude or compete with it in mobilizing the flows of energy, desire, goods, meanings and persons. Power that one has over the other can colide in their ignorance.
This thinking on ignorance is contra-Enlightenment thought.
Knowledge, hence, should be more pluralized and specified, especially its use in sexual-political thinking.
Ignorance is ignorance of a certain knowledge. Ignorance is a product of a particular knowledge, and it implies, structures and enforces particular knowledge, especially in the sexual realm.
Pure knowing is epistemological transparancy (Goldberg, 1984)
Sexual ignorance: under this regime, it becomes exciting to be near people who may not know themselves sexually, and the excitement is very specific: it is an excitement to violence, the violence of epistemological enforcement (p. 47).
