Bellini had fused the innovations of Flemish and Florentine art. Empirical realism and meticulous attention to detail of Flemish painters, but without their obsessive symbolism and set in the rationally structured spaces created by Florentine painters, but without their sometimes overinsistant use of perspective to focus attention on the main subject.
